Manaiakalani Film Festival

FILM FESTIVAL!!!! It's that time of that year again, where all of the Manaiakalani cluster schools make a movie for Film Festival. This year room 1 is doing a slow-motion video, the movie is about all of us having but in SLOW - MOTION! 

The presenter for my class is Sulieti and Mubashshir, they will be presenting the movie for our class at the Hoyts movie theatre and our movie will be shown there. If you want to watch Pt England Movies, you can either come to the place or you can go on Manaiakalani site and watch it.

Take Flight

WALT: Engage our readers by using precise language

I was travelling in the 'Radio-Flyer; when all of a sudden my grandpa and I were in a jungle. There were black monkeys with purple eyes that were screeching at us.  Long scaley alligators were all around us searching for  food. For a moment I wondered if we were going to be their next meal. Slowly, grandpa and I realised that the alligators were coming towards us, their long jaws snapping hungrily. My grandpa and I tried to escape but there was no way out of the jungle. Wherever we went, there were  deadly animals chasing us like they wanted to rip our skin off. Eventually, we came to a clearing and the animals were all gone. I guess they found a better meal with better protein!!!

This week, we're focusing on using precise language in our writing. Up above, is my

Education is the road that help children to reach their destination. Many children around the world do not get a quality education where they can learn and develop.

For every kid, education is important for them but in most countries education is   not free, that’s why lots of kids don’t get the opportunity to go to school and learn because some parents can not afford the money for their children’s education.

Some people around the world are poor and that is because when they were younger they didn’t have a proper education. So we should all focus on our learning while we’re young, so in the future we can achieve many opportunity that are waiting for us now.

The aim of education is  knowledge, not of facts, but of values.

This week we had to deliver a speech in front of the class about any topic. My topic was "Do you think education should be free"? The most common topic was " Why should kids get paid to go to school"? Everyone performed their speeches in two days.

In Rm1 literacy class we are learning about sleeping and I've made a presentation
called Sleeping advice column for those who have trouble sleeping at night.

Hiwi the Kiwi

Yesterday, Hiwi the Kiwi came to our school to talk about water safety,saving our seabirds and making sure there are not littering.First, Mr Minstrel and Mrs Minstrel introduce their-self.Mr Minstrel asks some question and who ever got the answer right or put their hands up.We get poster and stickers if we get the answer right.We talked about water safety, Mr Minstrel told Pt England a story about this three strong men was on a boat and they didn't want to put on the life jacket because they thought they were the best swimmers but in the middle of the lake there were this big as log but the men didn't 
saw the log because it was under the water.Then,the boat crashed into the log and the 3 men drown.
Mr Minstrel said always were a life jacket when you're on a boat.

Cross country (show not tell)

P1: My lungs were filled with air and my legs started to wiggle like jelly. As Mr Burt slam the 2 block the year 7 girls started to sprint like a cheetah.

P2: I started gasping all the air,I was so puffed because I pushed myself into the limit.My lungs started to burn like fire.

BFG

Yesterday,my literacy teacher took our literacy class and other student who were pick to go to the movie to watch BFG. We went to the Sylvia hoyts,I really like the movie because It was funny,interesting and the animations was incredible.In the movie there were 11 main character,
the BFG,Sophie the little girl and the 9 giants and in the last part there was Queen Elizabeth (fake).



 In the first part,The BFG took Sophie to the giants country,the BFG took Sophie to his cave where BFG live.Sophie got so scared because when she saw a knife,she thought the BFG was going to kill her. First,Sophie was little bit bossy to BFG because she don't know what BFG life is about.The BFG told Sophie that there were 9 more giants like him.First,Sophie wasn't that scared because she think the giants were kind and friendly like BFG. BFG was like a servants to all of the giants.
I felt really sad for the BFG because all the giants were mean and BFG still being friendly,kind and thoughtful for all the giants and Sophie.In the end they had a happy life and all the giants were send to a island that they can never escape.  

                       

Gabriel and Saia Silicon Valley

16/8/16 Gabe and Saia came to Team5 to talk about their trip to america.They went to lots of place in america. Gabe favourite place was Microsoft, Alcatraz and Khan Academy. Saia favourite was Stanford University.They went to Google,Facebook,Twitter,Instagram,Stanford University,Xero,Yelp,Microsoft,Khan Academy,Alcatraz and Kiwi Landing Pad. Gabe and Saia shared lots of importation about their trip.One of
there message was go for the goals and Gabe said Mrs Tele'a gave him message and the message was where ever you wanted to visit just Imagine you were at the place that you really wanted to visit.
